How to Get Over Perfectionism and Build on Your Ideas
Have you ever been accused by friends and/or family members of trying to be better than perfect? Perfectionism is a very difficult thing to cope with. Though to some degree it’s good for an individual to possess, but on the other hand it creates fear, anxiety and encourages mistakes.
I see many idea rich thinkers and business inclined individuals looking to get their ideas perfect before building on them.
As Mark Zuckerberg strongly affirmed; “Ideas don’t come out fully formed”, it has to be built on daily.
No business leader and/or his business is perfect. They work to get better by getting more things done.
Perfectionism is a myth. Only God is a perfect being. Do you agree? If you do agree, why then are you waiting to get your ideas perfect before building on them?
Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook as a platform to cover students within Harvard. He never plan to cover the world.
Larry Page never thought for once Google will become the number one search engine in the world.
Chimamanda Adichie never knew she would be an international author with the kind of recognition she is having.
Humans are not perfect we only strive towards perfection. And so should our business, leadership and skills. Our goal should be to get better at what we do.
Get Over Perfectionism and Build on Your Ideas
Below is a simple three ways you can get perfectionism and build your ideas to greatness:
Be honest with yourself about your idea
How well do you believe in your idea? Are you passionate about it? Then waste no time and start building on it. The best and only thing to do now is to get your idea on a scale and weigh the ‘pros’ and ‘cons’.
How can your business idea help your target audience and market? To whom do your business intend to reach and why will it be competitive? If you can answer these questions, get out and begin to build that idea.
Seek other people’s insight
There are many people who are already in your business idea area who have build a great business around their idea. Ask and research how they got there. Learn their methods. Study their failure. Improve on their principles.
No man is an island. You need the right information to succeed at what you do. And one of the best way to get the right information is by learning from people who are succeeding in your line of business. Never be afraid or too proud to seek out the right insights to get your business to success.
Create a Vision board
A vision board is a powerful Law of Attraction tool that helps you narrow down your desires through the power of choice, — Mind Valley Blog. The tool helps you to visualize your future and consistently reminds you of your life goals. “Your brain will work tirelessly to achieve the statements you give your subconscious mind. And when those statements are the affirmations and images of your goals, you are destined to achieve them!” – Jack Canfield
The image above is an example of a vision board. The number one secret to creating a vision board is to make your vision board simple and it should focus on how you truly desire.
